Question by Winston M: My Maytag washer stopped working?
Last night I was doing my laundry (the load was more on the higher side, so may be it was overloaded) After about an hour when I checked on it, I noticed my laundry room was filled with smoke and there was a distinctive stench of some kind of electrical burn. The wash cycle however had completed. At first, I didn’t think it’s the washer, so I removed few clothes, which by the way were soaking wet and started another full cycle. After about 10 minutes, I again noticed smoke, same electrical burn odour and also noticed it’s not spinning anymore. It’s a Maytag standard washer (nothing fancy) Is the motor burnt? Would it be cheaper to get a new one than to repair this one?
